High Current Multilayer Chip Inductors
Normally, the Inductors of the multilayer structure will be chip beads to work as the EMI filter. However, for some applications, because of the limitation of the dimension, the customer also chooses the multilayer product which works as the inductor. In high frequencies like GHz, the raw material for the core body will be ceramic. In some cases, the customer will use the multilayer chip inductor in the applications of DC-DC, which no high current pass through. However, due to the technology advanced, the design engineer will need a product that has a small dimension but could carry up the high current. Therefore, thanks to the multilayer technology, More and more product, and dimension as small as 1608 could offer excellent saturation and rated current.
Two kinds of technology will be used on the miniature ferrite chip inductors, multilayer or hot pressing technology. The advantage of hot pressing is to provide a higher inductance value and easy to develop the request dimension (higher degree of freedom for customized). Coilmaster provides the various dimension for the ferrite multilayer chip inductors from 1608 (0603) to 3225 (1210). The inductor utilizes the cooer wire instead the silver printing. The advantage of this change is to carry up the higher current and withstand the pulse current.
